Biography
Joseph (Joe) G. Reddan is the Chief Forester and owner of Flexilis Forestry LLC, a Durango, Colorado-based consulting forestry firm established in 2017. Now serving California’s forest landowners and managers from American Canyon, CA, he earned his California Registered Professional Forester number—3187—in January 2023.
Joe earned an associate degree in applied science for pre-professional forestry at Paul Smith’s College in Paul Smith, NY. To further his forestry education, he enrolled in the School of Forestry (now College of Forestry) at the University of Montana in Missoula, MT, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Management in June 1977.
Joe joined the USDA Forest Service in 1979 and served for 38 years with the Forest Inventory & Analysis (FIA) program across 14 states from Kentucky to Maine. He worked on National Forests in Oregon, Utah, and New Mexico and at the National Office as a Congressional liaison, where he gained extensive policy experience with the Healthy Forest Restoration Act (P.L 108-148). He retired as the assistant director for the Forest Management Directorate in Washington, D.C. For 30 years, Joe served as a federal wildland firefighter, Division Supervisor, Incident Commander T3, and Agency Administrator.
Since its founding in 2017, Flexilis Forestry LLC has served private landowners in Colorado, New Mexico, and California by producing forest plans and wildfire impact assessments to inform landowners' forest management strategies and options for forest management, fuels management, and mitigation. Joe and his company are motivated to meet the forest management needs of forest landowners.
